William Bolton Box was the son of Jonathan Box (1770-1860) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Bolton (1780-1859). On 14 Mar 1822 William married Sarah Whitehead in Hall County, Georgia. The couple had at least the following children: Elizabeth Box Curbow in abt 1822; Martha Ann Box Hill McCollough in 1831; Sarah Ann Box in 1835 and William Thomas Box in 1836. Two boys remain unidentified. After Sarah's death, William Bolton Box remarried to Tebitha (last name White or Whitehead). The couple had the following children: Tabitha Elendar "Ellen" Box McKown in 1837; Mary Ann "Mollie" Box Evans in 1893; William "Will" Floyd Box in 1843; Henrietta (or Harriet) Jane Box Hodges in 1848; Geoge Harrison Box in 1854. The family spent time in Itawamba County, Mississippi before migrating to Hill County, Texas, probably during or right after the Civil War.
