Frank Edward Bartlett, age 89, of Possum Trot Road in Bakersville, the Bear Creek Community, died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home.

Born on January 26, 1926 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Edward Coleman and Sarah Sparks Bartlett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Adam and Cleophas Bartlett and his sisters; Lena Willis, Mattie Stamey, Virginia Pittman, and Louise Green.

Frank was a lifelong member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Henredon Furniture of Spruce Pine. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida and gardening in the summer. He loved camping and fishing with family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Helen Boone Bartlett; his son; Jerry Bartlett and wife, Sherry of Bakersville; his daughter; Gail Buchanan and husband, Keith of Independence, KY; his grandchildren; Michael Bartlett and wife, Kelly of Lake Wylie, SC; Adam Buchanan of Spring, TX; and Cheyanne Rathbone and husband, Hunter of Asheville.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Frank Bartlett on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Larry Greene and William Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
