Geyer, George A.
Surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, family and friends; George was called home to the Lord on Jan. 31, after a long illness.
Son of the late Frederick and Ida Geyer, born in Needham, MA on Sept. 13, 1927, he graduated from Needham High School, where he was a football and wrestling star. He graduated from Emerson College in 1951 and during World War II, at the age of 16, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Princeton as a radio man. George met his second wife, Pat in Massachusetts and has been married for 26 years. In 1972, he became an independent insurance agent and was a member of the Million Dollar Round Table. George was a football referee in the New England Conference for 35 years. He had a great love of sports, and helped young people to get involved. George was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In 1989, George and Pat retired to Clearwater, FL, where they became members of Countryside Country Club where he was an active golfer for many years.
He leaves behind his wife Patricia, and his children from a previous marriage, Janice Clark and George Geyer, Jr. and their five children. Also, his step-daughters, Barbara Mock, Kathleen Foss and Colleen Bosworth and their nine children. Additionally, many nieces and nephews in the New England area.
He attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for many years.
Our deepest thanks to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and dear friends who lovingly cared for George in his last days. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast or to Parkinson disease research. Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Clearwater, FL.
