Alexia lived with her mother, Barbara Carrasco, and stepfather, Larry Carrasco, in 1997 in Elk Grove, California. She was 5 years old at the time. Alexia's older sister, Jessca, later testified that Barbara and Larry began physically and mentally abusing their children early in 1997, after they started using methamphetamines. In late May, Alexia and Jessica were forced to eat ice cream mixed with bleach to "cleanse" them. They had to eat the concoction for several days. On or about June 1, 1997, accodring to Jessica's testimony, Alexia died. The Carrascos dismembered her body and burnt it to ashes in the fireplace. Alexia's disappearance was not discovered until later that summer. Jessica told authorities that she had gone to live with her biological father. She told the truth that fall, when teachers at her school realized she was being abused. Larry and Barbara were charged with killing Alexia in June 1999. Jessica testified against them. Larry was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 40 years to life; Barbara initially pleaded insanity, but changed her plea to guilty of second-degree murder and got 15 years to life. All bio information and photo's are from the website Children Who Never Made It Home (http://www.free-webspace.biz/thevictims/ages.html).
