He was the son on Elijah Banks Lewis & Bertha Ione Tommie Cheves (Miss Tommie).
He had 2 sisters Mrs W.H. McKenzie & Mrs E.P. Willingham and 1 brother Robert Landrum Lewis.
He had an attack of appendicitis traveling north to New York with his Uncle William "Minor" Lewis. They had planned to buy a stock of goods for their establishment (John F Lewis & Sons) in Montezuma but didn't make it to their destination. They had to lay over at Chester, S.C. for medical attention. His father met them there after being telegraphed. He later passed.
His brother Robert Landrum Lewis passed in 1895 & his father Elijah Banks Lewis was so divistated about the lost of his 2 young sons that he ordered from Italy, hand carved marble statues of their likings. They both stand tall & are very unique in the Felton Cemetery.
