Patricia "Pat" Marker, 71, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning August 15, 2012 at her home.
Born February 9, 1941 in Washington, Georgia, she was the daughter of Gordon and Lois (Nelson) Shelton. She was raised and received her education in Georgia.
Pat was united in marriage to Bill Marker on March 1, 1959 in Aiken, South Carolina. Pat moved to Kansas to be near Bill's family while he served in the United States Army. Upon his return to the states the couple lived for a short time in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. They then moved to western Kansas where Bill was a school teacher. In 1966 the couple returned to the family farm just east of Dexter. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
She was a member of the Dexter Christian Church. She enjoyed flowers, and going to her children and grandchildren's ball games.
Her family includes: His husband: Bill Marker of the home; Her son: Mike Marker and wife, Beth of Cambridge; Her daughters: Pam Maule of Edmond, OK; Vickie Haskell and husband, Jerry of El Dorado; Her brothers: Ken Shelton and wife, Cindi of Lake Wylie, SC; Mark Shelton and wife, Sally of Forsythe, GA; Her sister: Jeanie Bridges of Sandersville, GA; and Her 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held at the Dexter Christian Church on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 4 to 6 P.M. The family will be holding a private graveside service. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Mrs. Marker's name for the Children‘s Miracle Network. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
