John Elmer Hadley, an old resident of Gage county, died Monday afternoon at his home one mile a quarter north of Holmesville, aged fifty-four years. He had been in poor health for some time and his death was not unexpected.
The deceased had been a resident of Gage county for more than forty years. He is survived by a widow and eleven children. He also leaves his aged, father David Hadley of this city, three sisters, Alice Hadley, Mrs. D, Vasey and Mrs. J. Vasey, five brothers, Lou, H. H., James, Ira, and A. A. Hadley.
Funeral arrangements will be made later.

John was a Blacksmith and a Carpenter. And Friends with Buffalo Bill Cody. Or at least received a visit from him. Maybe it was work related? As John's daughter, Thelma, remembered sitting on her Daddy's shoulders when she was about 6 or 7, while they were visiting.
John was the son of David M Hadley b. 6/16/1830 Sandusky Co., Ohio, d. 2/24/1924 Beatrice, Gage, Nebraska,
and
Mary J Ellen Shick [Hadley] 4/20/1833 Stark Co., Ohio, d. Beatrice, Gage Nebraska.
John was a Blacksmith and a Carpenter. He built his own house and helped build the Church of the Brethren in Holmesville. One time in abt. 1910 - 1913 Buffalo Bill Cody stopped by for a visit.
John Elmer Hadley and Clarissa Ann Brown had 13 Children. All born in Gage County, Nebraska, most all in, Holmesville.
