Services for Roger Allen Johnson, an Eagle River electrician, will be at noon Tuesday at the Maplewood Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Dennis Barrett of the Eagle River ward will officiate. A visitation will precede the service from 11 a.m. until noon. Mr. Johnson, 38, died July 22 at Humana Hospital-Alaska from injuries suffered in an industrial accident. Born Oct. 25, 1948, in American Falls, Idaho, he had lived in Alaska since 1952. He was a 1967 Chugiak High School graduate and had served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547, a charter member of Eagle River Elks Lodge 2682 and a member of the Eagle River VFW Post 9785. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He leaves his son, Jody, and his daughter, Alisa, both of Anchorage; his mother, Dorothy, of Chugiak; his brothers, Steven, of Anchorage, and Thomas, of Provo, Utah; and his sisters, Janice Meerbrey of Eagle River, Neva Lancaster of Peters Creek, Rhonda Kutzner of Wasilla, Allona Atencio of Elko, Nev., Darleen Tuia of Huntsville, Ala., and Sharyll Higbee and Laurel Johnson, both of Anchorage. Burial at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with full military honors will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Claude Higbee Jr., Claude Higbee III, Jack Tuia, Bernerd Stewart, Steven Johnson, Michael Meerbrey and George Finney. Memorials are suggested to a memorial education fund for Jody and Alisa Johnson, 7715 Port Orford Drive, Anchorage, 99516. Service arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
