Virginia Beach - (Edward) Allen Carter, 54, of Virginia Beach died tragically on August 15, 2012.
Allen was born on September 27, 1957 in Wilmington, NC to Edward Allen Carter Sr. and Evelyn Carter. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, his mother and best friend, Evelyn, and his beloved sister, Linda (Carter) George. Several cherished Aunts and Uncles also preceded him in death. He is survived by his nieces, Charlotte and Elizabeth, and his great nieces and nephews, Emily, Charlton, Carter, and Hayden. He is also survived by his life long best friend, Mark Kaiser, and special cousin Rae Nell Marlowe.
Allen worked for the city of Virginia Beach as a Horticulturist and made the city parks beautiful for families and visitors of Virginia Beach to enjoy. He loved the beach, cooking, and all things Southern. Music brought great joy to his life and his taste was widely diversified. He was a devout fan of Carly Simon, the classic Patsy Cline, and Patti Lupone. He also had tremendous love and compassion for animals and leaves behind his precious dog, Nadia.
Memorial services will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. Because of Allen's love of beauty and nature, a memorial will be placed in his honor at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Also, in honor of Allen, please let your family and friends know how much you love them and contact someone who may be lonely or hurting and lift their spirits. Make it your priority to make this world a better place for everyone born into it. When you do these things, know that Allen is smiling down on you from Heaven.
