January 10, 1917 ~ June 20, 2015

Edna Janson of Camas, Washington, passed away June 20, 2015 at the age of 98. She was born to Rupert and Amelia Kahlhamer on January 10th, 1917 in Granite Township, Minnesota. She met her future husband Walter Janson at a barn dance and they were married a year later in July of 1935.

They lived in Little Falls, Minnesota until 1948, when they moved to Camas, Washington and raised their three children.

Edna went to work at Crown Zellerback (Georgia Pacific) and retired in 1972, in Camas, Washington. She worked at the Red Lion in Vancouver, Washington for a short period and then went on to the job she enjoyed the most, as a Foster Grandparent, at Helen Baller School in Camas, Washington. She worked for 25 years as a kindergarten teacher's aide. She loved working with the many young children. Grandma Edna retired at the age of 91.

Edna is survived by her son, James Janson (Elsie) of Camas; daughters, Barbara Krause (Fred) of Camas, Kathleen Railing (Mike) of Vancouver; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her 12 siblings, one being her twin brother, Edwin; and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas, Washington. There was a rosary vigil and a funeral Mass on Friday, the 26th of June, 2015 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 324 NE Oak St., Camas, Washington. Vault interment followed at the Camas Cemetery, also in Camas.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Jim and Patty Sundem at the Forest Home Elder Care and their staff, Janice, Alana, Trisha, and Iman for their love, support, and compassion they provided our mother. Thanks to the Hospice team for making her comfortable in her final days.
