She was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Harrison County, Miss., to James Henry and Harriett Lucrecia (Ely) Smart, and grew up in Quinter, Kan.
After high school, she taught school in Kansas before moving to Chehalis in 1936.
On March 14, 1937, she married Douglas Allen MacGregor in Chehalis, and they lived there until 1942. She lived in Southern California and Western Washington until 1975, when she settled in Texas, returning to Chehalis in August 1988.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in 1984, at age 68, served an 18-month mission for the church in the Salt Lake City North Mission.
In her leisure time she liked to write poetry and short stories, and injoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She took special pleasure in teaching crafts and homemaking skills to children.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith Larson of Chehalis, Christine Hicks of Saginaw, Texas, znd Kathleen Gibb of Berthoud, Colo.; a foster son, Marshall Moore of Sandy, Utah; a sister, Braida Allbott of Fresno, calif.; 29 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband; a son, Dauglas Allen Jr.; a daughter, gayle MacGregor Cash; three brothers; and a sister.
A memorial service for MacGregor was held Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chehalis.
Arrangements were inder the direction of American Burial and Cremation Services.
