♫♫ R.I.P. Gefallen in Afghanistan ♫♫

Born in Bielefeld in 1981, Martin Kadir Augustyniak was a very eager student who obtained his general qualification for university entrance in 2002. After school, he did civil service and then went to university to study educational science, helping others was his main focus.

In 2008, Martin decided to join the paratroops, where again he used his whole loving and caring personality to help others.

Along with fellow soldiers Hauptgefreiter (= Corporal) Martin Kadir Augustyniak was sent to Afghanistan just about 3 weeks before he sadly lost his life, along with that of 2 more fellow paratroopers, on God Friday, in the District of Chahar Darreh, approximately 3.8 miles West of Kunduz, Afghanistan.

German Chancellor Mrs Angela Merkel and the German Minister of Defence, Dr Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg, attended the Memorial Service for Martin Kadir Augustyniak and his comrades on April 9, 2010, in Selsingen.

Martin leaves behind to mourn him his loving wife and 3-year old son Remo, his family and many friends who will never forget him.
