Ashland Banker And Business Man Dies In Local Hospital

Ashland, Web, 17-Frederick C. Wallbaum, lifelong resident of Cass county, extensive land owner and banker, died at 6 o'clock this mоrning at Springfield hospital. He was 54 years old. Death followed an attack of heart trouble.

He organized the Farmers' State bank of Ashland in 1905 and had been president of the bank since its organization. He was chairman of the county board of supervisors of Cass county for the two years just previous to his death and was formerly president of the Illinois Farmers Grain Dealers' association for several terms and former treasurer of Shurtleff collage of Alton.

Mr. Wallbaum is survived by his wife, Alice G.; one son. Clark, und two grandsons, Frederick James and William Lee, all of Ashland; his mother, Martha C. Wallbaum; brothers, Ernest A. and Conway Wallhaum, Ashland: Fl. W. Robinson, Pleasant Plains, and J. O. Robinson, Springfield; one sister, E. Mae Wallbaum, 1603 Whittler Avenue, Springfield. One son, William Leo, preceded him in death Sept. 30, 1922

Mr. Wallbaum was member of Ansar temple, the Consistory, Knights Templar of Jacksonville, Modern Woodmen of America and Odd Fellows. He served many years as senior deacon of Ashland Baptist church. He had been in declining health for a number of years, but through his persistent force of energy had carried on his various business activities up to his last illness, which was about four weeks

in duration. Funeral services will probably be held Sunday.

Special to The State Journal. Ashland, Feb. 19.-Funeral services for Frederick C. Wallbaum, prominent Cass county resident who died Wednesday, will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Ashland Baptist church, Rev. R. V. Wright, St. Louis and Rev. Minor Goodsell, Ashland, officiating. Interment will made in Ashland cemetery.
