ANNA HASS DEAD

Anna Hass, daughter of Henry Hass, passed away suddenly at five o'clock Friday morning of heart failure. She had been an invalid for the past three years and could not use her lower limbs. For the past few weeks she had been in excellent health and was able to be about until Thursday evening when she took to her bed. Anna Hass was born in Charlestown Oct. 13, 1873 and had been living near here ever since. Her mother died twenty –five years ago and since that time she has been her father's housekeeper. Besides her father, four brothers and two sisters survive her, John F. of Groten, South Dakota, Wm. Of Hilbert, Herman of Canada and Ed. of this village and Mrs. Maggie Peters of Chilton and Mrs. Lena Hartley of Iowa [supposed to be Mrs Lena Groth of Hartley, Iowa]. The funeral took place at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. Schildknecht officiating.

Dies at New Holstein

On Friday, March 18, the death of Anna Hass occurred at her home in New Holstein after two years of failing health. The deceased was born in Charlestown, Oct. 13, 1873, and since the death of her mother, which took place when she was a young girl, she has been her father's housekeeper and mainstay, trying faithfully to discharge the duties devolving upon her since her mother passed away. Some two years ago she was taken ill, since which time her health has been poor. Dropsy finally set in from which she suffered greatly and which caused her death. She was a young woman of exceptionally noble and unselfish character and neighbors and friends who knew her well speak highly of her many virtues. Those from out of town who attended the funeral which was held on Monday were: John Hass of South Dakota, Will Hass and family of Hilbert, John Ohlrogge and family, Louise and Frank Peters, Mrs. Sophia Stauger and daughter, Jennie, Mrs. Tena Stark., Nic Hass and family, Carl Goeldi and family and Miss Mary Hass, all of Chilton.
