SHELBY - Mr. Samuel Cody, 64, of 2441 Nixon Drive, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late James and Addie Cody. He was self-employed as owner of Samuel Cody Roofing. He was a member of Christopher Road Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Building and Grounds Committee and a Sunday school teacher for the toddler class. He loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Cody and Ray Cody; and sister, Dorothy Wiggins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Walker Cody; son, Kenneth Durbin and wife, Allison, of Shelby; daughters, Jenny Cody Huffman and husband, Kelly, of Earl and Dolores Newton and husband, Michael, of Shelby; brother, Garland Cody and wife, Delores, of Shelby; sister, Peggy Kilpatrick Ranson of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Wesley Huffman, Sam Newton, Richie Webb, Crystal Durbin, Chris Durbin and Madison Bower; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 7 to 9 p.m., at Christopher Road Baptist Church
