Mrs. Betty Oakley Hudson , 73, of 1608 Sherron Rd, died suddenly on Sunday, October 31, 1999, in Durham Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hudson was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. She was the daughter of the late Eugene Calloway and Lela Hill Oakley and was a graduate of the Oak Grove High School, she was a homemaker and a member of the Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edwin Hudges Hudson , Sr., who died May 14, 1995. Surviving are one son; Jerry Van Hudson and wife Patricia of Durham; one step-son, Ed Hudson Jr., of Durham, one step-daughter; Phyllis H. Matthews, and husband Roger of Durham, two sisters; Louise Monroe and Elizabeth Kerr both of Durham.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m. in the Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Fred Rivenbark will officiate. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Gethsemane, Section A. Active Pallbearers will be Jason Emory, David Gates, Kevin Gates II, Willie Perry, Tommy Emory, Mike Oakley, and Roger Matthews. Honorary pallbearers, will be Ollie Hill and Needham Shepherd. Visitation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her sister, Louise Monroe, 1604 Sherron Rd.
Funeral service for Riley Little, 54, of 54-C Dayton St., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Burial Beechwood Cemetery. Visitation, one hour prior to service. Viewing 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Today and Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Parlor.
