Edgar Allan Poe Cecil, 71, of Helenwood, passed away suddenly, Thursday afternoon, September 8, 1983, at the Scott County Hospital. He was the son of the late Reason Henderson Cecil and the late Geanie Pemberton Cecil and was also preceded in death by one half-sister, Verona Vaughn; one brother, Harry Cecil; and his step-mother, Josie Cecil. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Judith Ellis Cecil of Helenwood; one son, Edgar Allan Poe Cecil, Jr. of Miamisburg, O.; one sister, Mrs. Clyde (Lola) Arp of Knoxville; two half-sisters: Mrs. James (Elsie) Andrews of Knoxville, and Mrs. Jimmy (Geneva) Cross of Indianapolis, Ind.; two half-brothers: Benny and Ralph Cecil, both of Knoxville; five grandsons: Jody, Michael, Paul, Robert, and Jason Cecil, all of Miamisburg, O.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 11, at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Milford Cecil officiating. The Goad Family sang. Burial followed in the Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Donald Davidson, George D. Davidson, Michael Davidson, Jody Cecil, Mike Cecil, Jack Keeton, and Jeweles E. Moddulle.
