Anderson Light was born in Tennessee. By 1852 he was living in Perry County, Kentucky where he married Matilda Wooton and earned a living as a farmer. The couple had nine children by the1860s when they headed for Texas making Parker County their home. While living near Weatherford, Anderson found work hauling freight between forts.
With the help of his sons he drove wagons pulled by oxen between Grand Saline and Weatherford. What is truly remarkable is that Anderson managed to make a good living despite having only one arm. Most of the couple's nine children continued to live in Parker County after they married.
