AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Blanche Thompson Kaney, 86, widow of Michael Dennis Kaney, went to her heavenly home Thursday, May 1, 2003 at her residence. She was born January 9, 1917 in Bamberg, South Carolina to the late Otis (Luther?) Thompson and Mamie Carter. The Mass of Christian Funeral will be held on Monday, May 5, 2003 at 2 pm at St. Mary Help of Christians Church. Final prayers and commendations will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Survivors include six sons, Gerald Kaney, Alexander City, AL, Pat Kaney, Buford GA. Chris Kaney, Aiken,SC, TK "Rack-o" Kaney, New Ellenton SC, Matt Kaney, Johnson City, TN, Mark "Tank" Kaney, Aiken, by her four daughters, Lydia Kaney Gravley, Greer SC, Marilyn Kaney Mazza, Hermosa Beach, Calif.,Bernadette Kaney Reiss, Placentia CA. Angel Kaney Lynn, Graniteville SC, 24 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, and number of great great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Rev Michael Emmet Kaney, a sister Florrie Chavious, mother Mamie Carter Thompson & a brother, John Thompson. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Shellhouse- Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken.
