January 13, 1950 - May 4, 2013 Born near Xenia, Ohio, the eldest of eight children of Mary M. and William J. White, Ellen White passed away quietly in her sleep, at home in Singapore at the age of 63.
A graduate of Palisades High School, Los Angeles, and the University of California, San Diego, Ellen went on to specialize in linguistics. Competent in several languages, she was an accomplished reader and speaker of the Mandarin dialect.
Most of her adult life she lived in Asia. She was a beloved teacher, who at the time of her death was Director of Admission at the Singapore American School.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Los Angeles on 5/18/13, 11:00 A.M. Burial Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Knoxville, TN.
Once a very wise woman said: "To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." Ellen lives in the heart of her son, Luke, her parents, her brothers and sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and a legion of friends around the world. Bear witness:
