Mr. Ocy Albert Baxter, 68, resident of Skelley Road in Santa Fe, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Ragsdale and Bruce Buttrey officiating. Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Santa Fe School Library, 2629 Santa Fe Pike, Santa Fe, Tennessee 38482. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Albert Howard Baxter and Gladys Blocker Baxter. On November 26, 1955 he married Linda Lee Wilson Baxter of Santa Fe. He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and Nashville School of Preaching. He was retired from CSX Railroad after 30 years of employment and was a Church of Christ minister for 30 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dawn (Ronnie) Kephart and Denise Brady both of Santa Fe; one son, Todd (Melissa) Baxter of Santa Fe; two grandsons, Tanner Baxter and Reed Brady both of Santa Fe; three granddaughters, Paige Kephart, Madison Kephart and Rachael Baxter all of Santa Fe; step-mother, Onnie Riley Baxter of Hampshire; three sisters, Louise (Pete) Brooks of Lobelville, Evelyn (Billy) Morton of Dayton, Margaret (John) Haywood of Cornersville; and one brother, Gene Ray (Judy) Baxter of Hampshire.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody Albert Baxter.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Baxter, III, Gregory Baxter, Darrell Hickman, Dee Gordon, Barry Brooks, Michael Harris, Ricky Dunn and Randy Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of CSX Railroad, and members of Liberty Lincoln Church of Christ, Shady Grove Church of Christ and Jones Valley Church of Christ.
