He was preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Hollis Taylor; grandson Van Douglas Taylor Jr.; mother Sarah Ophelia Byram Taylor; father George Arlin Taylor; son-in-law Alton "Buck" Ouchley and 5 sisters.
He is survived by 2 daughters, 2 sons, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Taylor was born on July 28, 1921 and passed away at his daughter's residence on August 30, 2010 in Farmerville, LA. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church, a retired sawyer for C. A. Reed Lumber Company and a long time employee of the old Lindsay Lumber Company in Bernice. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting with his Son-in-Law. The head of our family has departed on his journey home knowing that he was loved. We will miss him every day but he has left us with such sweet memories.
