Former Postal Employee Dies at Arlington
John M. Coffin, 68, former Arlington postmaster, died at his home in Arlington at 9:25 p.m. Thursday after an illness of four months.
Mr. Coffin retired on December 31, 1965, after serving as postmaster at Arlington for 22 years.
He was born in Posey Township on December 10, 1897, the son of Cy and Louisa Dearinger Coffin. On January 5, 1919, he was married to Clarice Mae Wilhelm, who survives.
Mr. Coffin was a member of the Arlington Christian Church and the Arlington Lions Club.
Surviving with the widow are four sons, John E. Coffin of Anderson, Maurice Coffin of Greenfield, Robert G. Coffin of Rushville and Ronald L. Coffin of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. James (Doris) Hamilton and Mrs. Richard (Beatrice) Johnson of Arlington and Mrs. Jesse (Janet) Justus of Morristown; two sisters, Mrs. Elma Hufferd of Arlington and Mrs. Edith Eskew of Tucson, Ariz., 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert Monroe will conduct services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moster and Sons Mortuary, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday, with burial in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
