Roland Gilbert Hensley a 55-year resident of Glenside, died Nov. 23, 2009, at his residence.
He was 76. Born Nov. 30, 1932, in Port Huron, Mich., he was the son of the late William and Eileen (Baker) Hensley.He was the husband of the late Ann K. Hensley.
Mr. Hensley finished ninth grade in school and was a retired typesetter from the Quint Co. in Philadelphia, where he worked for 30 years. He also worked for Everlasting Fence in Glenside for 15 years. He was a life member of the Glenside Fire Co. and a 55-year member of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Glenside. Mr. Hensley loved animals, especially his dogs, and loved NASCAR and any sports team from Michigan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to his sister for all her help and support during his illness. He is survived by two sons, Robert Hensley (Kim) of Huntingdon Valley and Michael Hensley (Megan) of Abington; two daughters, Carole Anne Hensley of Sellersville and Patricia Stuckert (Joe) of Abington; a sister, Betty DeFoe of Arizona; and a brother, William Hensley of Salisbury, Md. and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 27 at St. Luke the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Easton Road and Fairhill Avenue, Glenside. Friends and relatives may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 700 Horizon Circle, Suite 201, Chalfont, PA 18914. Arrangements were made by John R. Freed Funeral Home, Glenside.
