Sara was a young, beautiful Philipino girl who was attending Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights. Her family and friends were devistated from the tragic ending of her life. She was a bright, intelligent and beautiful young lady of 16 years when tragedy struck one day.

Sara is missed dearly and although I didn'nt know her or ever meet her, for some reason I was drawn in to be a part of this sad passing.

She had left for school early that morning to attend an advanced placement history class when she was struck by a hit and run driver.

I remember driving home around 10 pm that evening as I cut through the housing track to get across town quicker when I came across a huge crowd of people standing in the street, waving their arms for me to stop. I was a little scared but I stopped and was in shock to hear about this tragic accident.

They were circulating flyers that had a picture of the type of van that they were looking for and were asking for the community to get involved with helping to track this person down.

I came back the following day and for months to follow leaving flowers and helping with the upkeep of the table in front of her house. I put a pretty blue Angel there for Christmas, I felt as if she was being guarded by the Angels and I wanted to put one there for her. After Christmas, I went up to the house to say hello and was greeted by Sara's mother.

I told her my name and that I had been by with flowers and a pretty blue Angel, she opened the door and said "You mean that Angel"? she had placed the Angel on the mantle over the fireplace, that touched my heart. She was a kind and gentle woman.

They found the driver when he showed up at a repair shop a few days later to have the front damage fixed. He later stated that he didn't see Sara because of the heavy fog and he didn't even know that he had hit her.

The street is used as a main throughfare from one street across the track and over to another main street that leads to the freeway. There was no signal into the track and one neighbor stated that people would come flying around the bend so fast to get across that they would slide across his grass and nearly hurting people in the yard.

Sara's classmates helped her family circulate a petition to have a signal placed there, which they succeeded in doing.

Sara, I said many prayers for you and your family & friends and I pray that they are all well. Rest in Heavenly Peace beautiful Sara.
