Mrs. Janes was born in Beaver Falls PA. For many years, she taught in the Cleveland,OH public schools. She enjoyed working with inner city students in the Public Garden Program. Mrs. Janes travelled internationally with the Lithuanian dance and song ensemble, "Cirliounas".
Frances A. Janes, 88, of Zanesville, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Cedar Hill Care Center.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 14, 1916, in Beaver Falls, Pa., the daughter of George and Ida Jesnes Ambrose.She formally attended St. Martins Catholic Church in Cleveland. Mrs. Janes spent many years as an educator teaching in Cleveland Public Schools. She was passionate about the school's Public Gardens Program and worked closely with inner-city children in this effort.She was a member of the Natural Foods Associates and traveled here and abroad with the Lithuanian singing and dancing assemble, "Cirliounas."
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Reyman and Laura Janes of New Concord; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlin, and Nicholas Janes.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Janes was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Ambrose.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., where funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, with a Dominican Father officiating.
Committal service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, in All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
Memorial contributions may be to the Alziemers Association or the Catholic Parishes of Zanesville.
