Gerald Dean Nicks Sr., formerly of Janesville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at his home in South Bend, IN. Gerald was born in Neptune, WI, the son of Bernice (Hendricks) and Leslie Nicks. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed at General Motors until he retired, after giving 30 years of service. He had a passion for ice fishing, enjoyed working in his yard, but mostly his joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren. Gerald is survived by, and will be sadly missed by, Ruthie, his wife of 21 years; his sister, Mary Jean of Michigan; children: Shirley Miller, Elizabeth (Scott) Merryfield and Steven Nicks Sr., all of Janesville, Gerald (Lisa) Nicks Jr. of Hilbert, WI, Theresa Smith (special friend, Mary) of Beloit, WI, and Robert Nicks Sr. of Jinks, OK; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, who also loved Gerald. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen and Donald; a daughter, Nancy; and a grandson, Robert Nicks Jr.
