Memories about Martin Andreassen:
June Tandberg Baker on May 12, 2006: I was born in Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Sophia did canning in the basement and the raised chickens. From there we moved Union City, New Jersey. We must have moved after I was born in 1933. We went to Saint Olaf Church in Union City, New Jersey. When I was 3 years old, I would sing at the church. Martin may have been the barge captain that took the barge from New Jersey to Manhattan and he would carry boxes on the barge. June Tandberg Baker on May 16, 2006: Martin had several children in Norway but he was a sailor so he was always away and my grandmother had to take care of his kids from his previous marriage. Eventually she came over and brought the kids from both marriages. Sigrid was a governess for a family, possibly the Schneiders in Jersey City.
Find him in the 1900 Norway census.
