Mable P. Etheridge PORTSMOUTH - Mable Virginia Porter Etheridge, 69, of the 1100 block of Jamal Lane East was called to rest with our Lord Jesus Christ July 2, 2008, at her residence with her beloved family. She is survived by her husband, Wassee William Etheridge of Portsmouth; five children, Gennett Gray of Waldorf, Md., Wesley Etheridge Sr. of East Haven, Conn., Wanda Wright of Chesapeake, Robin Woodley of Waldorf, Md., and Wayne Etheridge of Portsmouth; sisters, Rosa Greene and Agnes Adams; brothers, David Porter and Joseph Porter; two sisters-in-law, Amelia Stith of San Diego, Calif. and Carlise Etheridge of Portsmouth; five special nieces, Michele Highsmith, Barbara Lindsay, Mary Winstead, Jeanette Green and Nancy Thomas; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Daisy Sizemore, Lillie Pearl Hinton, Christine Freeman and Geneva Scarbough. She was a retired employee of the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Noble Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth, where she had been an active member for more than 40 years. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society by phone at 1-800-ACS-2345 or online at www.cancer.org. The family gratefully acknowledges the staff of Autumn Care of Portsmouth, the Pallative Care Unit at Portsmouth Naval and Odyssey Hospice for oustanding nursing care. Special thanks to the Rev.
