Enlisted on 7/12/1862 as a Corporal.

On 7/12/1862 he mustered into "F" Co. IN 12th Infantry.
At the battle of Atlanta, Georgia he was captured by rebels and sent to Andersonville Prison. Here he was offered to get out of prison if he enlisted in the Confederate army, so he joined the 10th Tennessee Infantry. On December 28th 1864 he was captured by Union troops who sent him to Alton prison in Illinois. He was allowed to enlist in the 5th U.S. Volunteers in order to fight indians. He deserted his post on March 23rd, 1866 at Fort Reno, NV. He was found in the Wind River area face down in a gully, having died from exposure.
