Louis VanEnkevort, 99, of Bark River, died Thursday, Dec. 17 at St. Francis Hospital, Escanaba, after a lengthy illness. He was born May 13, 1893, at De Pere, Wis., son of Albert and Theresa (Rupiper) VanEnkevort. At age 12 he moved with his family to Bark River, where he has lived since. He attended school in De Pere and Bark River. Mr. VanEnkevort owned and operated a dairy farm in Bark River until he retired in 1957. He married Clara Derouin June 1, 1913, at St. George Church in Bark River. She died in 1969. He was a member of St. George Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Louis (Erma) VanEnkevort of Urbanna, Mo., Arthur (Nora) VanEnkevort and Henry (Agnes) VanEnkevort, both of Bark River; two daughters, Edna Getzloff of Harris and Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Boch of Escanaba; 62 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Clara, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Holochwost and by 12 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Bark River with complete funeral services at 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
