TISHOMINGO - Memorial services for James Robert Britt, 72, of Tishomingo, were held Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Jack McClendon officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The son of the late Robert Eanes Britt and Jewel Francis Castleberry Britt, he was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Sulphur, and died Dec. 26, 2007, in Tishomingo.

He attended grade school in Oak Grove and high school at Hickory. He lived in Sulphur for many years were he worked
as a milkman, appliance repairman and convenience store owner. He later lived in Grapevine, Texas, for several years before settling in Tishomingo.

He married Josephine Jeanett Goodnight on Feb. 29, 1953; he later married Nita Taylor in 1974. Both preceded him in death, Jeanett in 1986 and Nita in 1999.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Britt; and a grandson, James Scroggins.

Survivors include his children, Chyrel Grantham, Sue Scroggins, Jamie Hudson, and Robin, Wren, Spike, Tac and Brad Taylor; four brothers and sisters, Effie Newell, Mary Lee Lamb, Buddy Britt and Daniel Britt; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Services were held under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, Tishomingo.
