Frances Elizabeth Whitehead was born about 1853 in Tennessee, to Henry Whitehead and Susannah Jane "Susan" Penny cuff. (If anyone knows different please contact me). She was one of eight known children.

She married Ambrose Henry Hadley on 14 October 1868 in Adair County, Kentucky. They had at least six children from this union: Martha Delpha Campbell, Mary Louisa Powell, C. D. Hadley, Alta A. Hadley , Henry C., and Manery A. Hadley.

Ambrose was struck and killed by lightening in 1879, while working the fields. He and the two men working with him took shelter under an apple tree from a sudden summer shower. One of the other men also died and the other lived but suffered severe injuries.

After the death of Ambrose, she remarried Jeremiah Cravens (1812-?) on 27 Feb 1883 in Adair Co, KY. They had One son, Vincent Cravens. Jeremiah later died of what they called back then, a mushroom cancer.

She married a third time to D L McElroy (1822-?) on 10 Dec 1889 in Adair Co, KY. They had one son, Donald McElroy. It is unknown whether he died or they divorced.

At this time the location of her final resting place is unknown. If any of her family reads this and knowns the location of her grave, please contact me so I can post it on this memorial. She was my second great-grandmother through Martha Delpha.
