Her husband, Winnick was manager of Royster Fertilizer Company in Jackson for many years where she worked part-time. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi, and was a member of St Lukes Methodist Church for almost 60 years where she taught preschool. As her health declined, she moved to Montgomery in 2000 to be near her son Charles.

After almost 50 years of marriage, her husband Winnick, preceded her in death on March 10, 1991.

Mildred (Memom) is survived by her son, Charles Ashley (Ann) of Montgomery, Alabama; two granddaughters, Jennifer Ashley of Birmingham, Alabama and Angela Davidson (Stuart) of Montgomery, Alabama; and great-grandson, Jay Davidson also from Montgomery, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister-in law, Opal Spitchley of Rockport Mississippi; and her loving nieces and nephews.
Mildred loved life and was a good friend to many. She loved cooking, playing bridge, gardening, and golfing at Colonial Country Club. But most of all she passionately loved her family, especially her granddaughters Jennifer and Angela. She was a very giving person and was a volunteer at St. Dominic's hospital in her later years.
