Roy Bjerknes was born to Arthur and Ethol Breuning Bjerknes on August 6, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He entered the Army Air Force in May of 1943, completing an astounding 40 combat missions in the South Pacific as a ball turret gunner and earning the Distinguished Flying Cross among other prestigious medals. Soon after the "Big War" as Roy described it, he married Marcella Holley the "Love of his Life".
Circa 1960, Roy purchased Olsvick Garage where he had worked on and off since he was a young boy. Because of a back injury in 1974, Roy and Marcella retired to the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota, where they enjoyed may wonderful years together.
Roy returned to the metro area of Minneapolis in 2010.
