Lazette Kidd Rounsaville, 92, of Canton, formerly of Ashland, died Feb. 24, 2010 at her home. She was the widow of Robert Benjamin Rounsaville Jr. She attended Ashland schools, graduated from Blue Mountain College and attended graduate school at the University of Mississippi. She taught first grade for 36 years. She was recognized as an outstanding teacher by her selection as a member of the editorial board of "The Weekly Reader." She had been a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Ashland Baptist Church. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Rev. Chuck Smith officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Zenora Joiner of Canton.
She was preceded in death by five older siblings, Mary Elizabeth (Mamie) Kidd Crawford, Titus Kidd Shelton, Tim Kidd, Louella Kidd Walker, Zenora Kidd Caviness; and her infant son, Albert Benjamin Rounsaville.
