SIOUX CITY | David "Darin" Smith, 42, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.

Darin will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Darin was born Aug. 9, 1972, in Sioux City. He was the son of David E. and Karen (Nielsen) Smith. Darin grew up in Sioux City, and attended Sioux City schools.

He loved to listen to music and he loved animals. He liked to spend his time tinkering with motors and making things. He loved spending time with family and friends the most.

Darin is survived by his father, David E. Smith of Sioux City; his sister, Kimmerly Ingram and her husband, Michael of Sioux City; and a nephew, Nathon Smith of Kenosha, Wis.

Darin was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Smith; grandparents; and two uncles, Kenneth Smith and Butch Nielsen.
