Raymond (Ray) Dempsey Andrews, 92, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at Cedar Crest Nursing Home. He was born July 25, 1921 in Ranger, Texas, one of eight children born to Gloss Ebbie (George) and Maude May Vaughn Andrews.
Ray married Dorothy Fay Rogers February 21, 1940 in Douglas, Arizona. He retired from Vought Corporation/LTV Aerospace and Defense Company in Arlington, Texas and was a member of the Elks Lodge. His greatest love was his family. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, farming, and just being outside.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Rogers Andrews; son, Donald Ray Andrews; sister, Margie Charles of Ohio; grandchildren, Jan Andrews Begeman and husband, Steve Begeman; Gary Andrews and wife, Joan, Michael Andrews and wife, Kamessia; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Gloss and Maude Andrews, four brothers, Louis, Clarence, Claude, and Bill Andrews; two sisters, Joyce Andrews Graham and Anna Marie Andrews Torrence.
A memorial service honoring Ray's life will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Grandson, Gary Andrews will officiate the service.
