Helen M. Willis

(April 29, 1936 - September 30, 2016)
Helen M. Willis, age 80, of Eldon, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at her home.
She was born April 29, 1936, in California, a daughter of Frank A. and Bessie Warren Brown. Helen was united in marriage to Elvin Wesley “E.W.” Willis on January 12, 1954. He preceded her in death February 11, 2011.
She was a graduate of Eldon High School and attended the Tri County Tech School in Eldon in the mid 1980’s.
She worked at various jobs throughout her life, namely as a psychiatric technician at the Porterville State Hospital, a teacher at the Barnett Learning Center, at the State of Missouri Department of Social Services, and as an In-Home Care giver for many families throughout Miller and Moniteau counties.
Helen was a longtime member of the New Life Assembly of God church in Barnett, where she was a Sunday school teacher. In later years she was a faithful member the Eldon Church of the Nazarene.
She was a Bible scholar, reading the scriptures daily and holding their meaning close to her heart. She loved singing and playing the piano. Her large family enjoyed her cooking, especially her custard. Helen enjoyed games and was always ready to play Pig or dominoes. However, her greatest enjoyment came from the time she could spend with her family.
Survivors include seven children and their spouses, Mikal Dean and Donna Willis, Napa, California; Wesley Dale and Kim Willis, Eldon; Steven Lee and Rosie Willis, Eldon; Deborah Rose and Ron Chapman of Eldon; Pamela Mae and David Scrivner of Eldon; Wanda Darlene and Ronnie Hess of Holts Summit and Helen Rebecca “Becky” Jarrett of Eldon; seven siblings and their spouses, Fred and Alberta Brown, Louisiana state; Frank and Jean Brown, Lawton, Oklahoma; Kenneth and Fern Brown, Russellville; Wanda and John Morrow, Illinois state, Bobby and Stephanie Stiller, Jefferson City; Eva and Dencil Miller, Jefferson City and Arthur Stiller, Versailles; twelve grandchildren, Andy Willis, Jessica Willis, Tony Keefe, Stephanie Barrett, Jeremiah Willis, James Chapman, Derek Duncan, Dustin Duncan, DeNae Duncan, Zack Hess, Jordan Jarrett and Ashton Jarrett, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Bob Stiller, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Chapman and five siblings, Mary Cooper, Frank Wilson Brown, Anna Brown, John Brown and Tom Stiller.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until service time. Rev. Jerry Frye will officiate. Interment will be in the Big Rock Cemetery in Barnett.
