David Goosey Sr. was the son of Peter Goosey Jr and Nancy Holton. David's first marrage was about 1845 to Susan Roach, daughter of Thomas Roach and Sarah Sally Bowles. They were divorced a few years later. They had one daughter, Sarah Ellen Goosey. On the 28th of October, 1854 in London, Laurel County, Kentucky David married Susan's sister, Armine Roach. To this union was born 12 children: Catherine, Nancy E., William S., James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Mary Ann, David Jr., Susannah, Joseph "Joe", Josephine, Amanda "Mandy" and Martha.

It is not known the exact date of David's death, but it is presumed around 1905. It has also been stated by one member of the family that David may have been buried along side of his mother nearby in an area that is currently the Beattyville, Lee County Golf Club, but no confirmation of this as of yet.
