A memorial service will be held for Bettie Jo Praytor Franks at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Westside Baptist Church, 1522 N. 24th St., Corsicana, with Brother Larry Talbert officiating.
Bettie was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Wortham. Bettie was a loving mother, MeMaw, Great MeMaw, sister, aunt, and friend who went to sleep on Aug. 8, passing peacefully from this earth on Aug. 9, 2009, to be with God forever in His heavenly home.
Bettie worked at the TexSun Glove Company for many years then worked 12 years as a food service worker for Corsicana Independent School District at Sam Houston Elementary. She loved the children there and always made sure that none went away hungry.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Franks and husband Roy of Corsicana; two sons, Ron Franks and wife Debbie of Frost and Don Franks and wife Diane of Waco; 17 grandchildren, René, Kristie, Reagan, Neal, Beth, Brandon, Keith, Chad, Kelly, Stacy, April, Courtney, Lara, Shane, Crystal, Carmen, and Travis; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Lela Howard of Melborne, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and her special family in Christ at Westside Baptist Church in Corsicana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Middleton and Lillie Ola Praytor; her husband, Glen Franks; five sisters, infant "Little Tootsie," Alta Rae Pickett, Alsie Mae Beldin, Estelle Adams, and Marie Wright; two brothers, James Arthur Praytor and Jessie Praytor; and by twin granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
Bettie had battled heart disease for many years and lung cancer for the last year. She donated her body to the UT Southwestern Medical School in the hopes it will find something that may help someone in the future. Special thanks to Family First Hospice nurses Kristy and Janet and all their staff and to Dr. William McHenry, Dr. John Updegrove, and Dr. Kenneth Johnston from Heart Place. Donations may be sent to Westside Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society in her memory.
