Mr. James Marvin Fletcher was born August 24, 1930, to John Earl and Florence (Bowden) Fletcher and departed this life December 31, 2009, at the age of 79 years, at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Bo, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Crowville High School and earned his BA degree from Louisiana State University in agriculture where he was active in the Block and Bridle Club as well as the Rodeo Association. He also earned additional college credits from University of Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech University and Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. He taught school in Bernice, Louisiana, Andrews School in Madison Parish and Crowville High School where he retired after teaching 22 years. He genuinely loved and respected all of his ag boys. After retiring from teaching, James Marvin held various other jobs, i.e. Corp Insurance Federation, Tensas Wildlife Federation, farming, custom hay bailing and a partner in BoDoc Welding Co. He was very active in all phases of the sport of rodeo, entering the competition himself for many years. He taught his two sons the sport of rodeo with each one going on to become national champions in their respective events. He built a rodeo areana at this home so that he could be a coach to the many cowboy wannabes with several of his rodeo students also going on to become national champions. He was a veteran, having served his country in the Air Force. He was active in Franlkin Parish Farm Bureau for many years. He was a Christian and attended the First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro where he was a member. His Sunday morning mission was to attend the Men's Sunday School Class which he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Caleb. He is survived by his wife Jean, of 55 years and his sons, Mike and wife Darlene: Scott and his wife Roxy: grandchildren Mikey Fletcher, Kelsey and Canon Fletcher: sisters Ruth Stephens, JoAnn Williams, Bobby Earl and LaVerne Mercer and a host of family and friends; and special care giver for 5 years, Janice Brazell.

Visitation will be Saturday at Gill First National Funeral Home from 5 pm until 8 pm. Funeral services will be Sunday at First United Methodist Church Winnsboro at 2 pm with Rev. Johnny Hankins officiating. Interment will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Moyers, Jay McCallum, Anthony Sturdivant, Cass Kaufman, Mike DeMoss, Wade Walley, Dennis "Buckshot" Sims and Barry Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church.
