Born Aug. 17,1917 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Ed P. and Myrtle M. (Holdren) Rodgers. She married Curtis J. Smith Feb. 1, 1935; he preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1986.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia (Howard) Spurlock and Joyce (Stephen) Cory, both of Morristown; son, Larry J. (Beverly) Smith of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Tim Mann, Bruce Mann, Tonya Alter, Chuck Smith, terry Smith, Michael Smith, Gregg Cory, Juli Hall and Chad Cory; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Vincent Rodgers and Ted Rodgers; a sister, Ruth Hazelbaker; and a daughter, Lois McDaniel.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Morristown Church of the Nazarene and the Merry Mixers Home Extension Club. A farm wife, she worked for Western Electric in the 1950s and in the Maintenance Department for Morristown/Shelby Eastern Schools in the Ô80s. She loved crafting, ceramics and quilting.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Morristown Church of the Nazarene. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with David Huff officiating. Burial in Asbury Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Morristown Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 242, Morristown, IN 46173.
