Gene Nethercott

PIPER CITY -- Gene Nethercott, 63, died Saturday at Fairbury Hospital following a week's illness.
He was brought to the Reilly Funeral Home in Piper City. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.n. Monday at St Peter's Church. Solemn high mass will be conducted by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas Cleary. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence two and one half miles southeast of Piper City. The rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Altar and Rosary Society of St Peter's Church and at 6:30 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Blase Gitzen.
Mr Nethercott was born Oct. 8, 1892 at El Paso, a son of Arch and Fannie Schlink Nethercott and married Ella Cleary in June, 1918 at El Paso.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs Mary J Miller of Taramus, N J., Mrs Jeanne Donley of Chicago, and Mrs Margaret Boma of Piper City; one son Vincent of Piper City; two sisters, Mrs Irene Armstrong of El Paso and Mrs Ida Hilger of Gridley and 11 grandchildren.
He was a member of the St Peter's Church and moved to the Piper City rural area in 1920, where he has lived since.
