Andrew Jackson Palmer was a firefighter for the National Park Service and was struck by a falling tree while fighting the Eagle fire, part of the Iron Complex Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near Weaverville, California.

Mr. Palmer was born in Port Angeles, Washington, on September 10, 1989 to Janet and Bob Palmer. He was 6'5" and 240 pounds, and was a valued part of the Port Townsend football team for four years. He enjoyed bonfires on the beach, sporting clays, games of urban golf, fugitive, dark, ultimate Frisbee, baseball, weightlifting, reading and spending time with his many friends and devoted time to Big Brother.

According to his obituary on the nps.gov website, he was remembered as one "who held himself to the highest principles of truth, fairness, justice and kindness. He was loyal, honest and trustworthy loved by all that knew him."
