Oct. 31, 1952 ~ Feb. 23, 2014

After a long and heroic fight with throat cancer, John Eldon Howick passed away on February 23, 2014. He was born October 31, 1952 to Mary Farnsworth Howick Anthon and Eldon Roy Howick. He was the first of five children.

John is survived by parents; Eldon (Cathy) Howick, Rose Park; Mary (Bob) Anthon, Sandy and siblings; Bryan Lee (Teri) Howick, Pleasant View; Mark Allen Howick, Salt Lake; Jill (Steve) Bowen, Taylorsville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Farnsworth Howick and his lifelong friend, Bob Wyler, who like John, fought for every last breath.

John loved to go camping; especially with his nieces and nephews. At a young age, he assembled a powerful amplifier/stereo. John read thousands of books, but was unable to finish a work of his own. He received a degree in computer science. John always celebrated his love of life during holidays. He never lost his determination and fight for yet another moment. On the evening of John's passing, the sun set in beauty on a life of brilliance.

He donated his body to the University of Utah to further the fight against cancer. His name will be engraved on the Celebration of Life Monument. Special thanks to Robert and Mary for their compassionate service. We extend our gratitude to the Huntsman Cancer Center. There will be an open house for close friends and family on March 8th from 2-6pm at the Anthon Home. 823 East 8325 South, Sandy.
Good night John, and may you regain a voice.
