Zenas Whitman, born Minot, District of Maine, February 21, 1802; married May 28, 1829, Betsy, daughter of Gershom and Sally (Johnson) Holmes. She was born December 8, 1808 and died May 26, 1877.
Zenas was a carder and clothier at Berry's Mills, Auburn (Minot), where he was one of the early settlers and lived from 1825 until his death, June 24, 1876.
Zenas and Betsy had 5 children: Addison Roscoe, Harrison Otis, David Allen, Mary Jane, and Alonzo Garcelon.
The District of Maine was incorporated a State, 1820 from Massachusetts. Auburn was made a town from Minot, 1842.
