Thomas Bibee/Bybee was born in Goochland County, Virginia, son of John Bybee 1706 & Sarah Judith Jane Giles Bybee, in New Kent St Peters Parrish, Goochland County, Virginia, He moved to Amherst Co., Virginia before 1776 when he volunteered for service in the Revolutionary War. He crossed the Fluvanna River in VA, Pee Dee River in NC and Santee River in SC, and joined the American Army under General Lee. In 1779 he volunteered again. Marched south to near Charleston, SC and served under General Lincoln and later was attached to General Mason. Next he was a substitute for one Johnson. Marched back south and served again under General Lincoln until just before the taking of Charleston by the British in 1780.After the War he moved to North Carolina on the Yadkin River. Later he moved to Burke County, then to Rutherford County, then to Buncombe County. In 1812 he moved to Cocke County, Tennessee. He was issued a pension for his Military service; rate $56.66 per annum on March 26, 1834. He died shortly after that date. Burial somewhere near Bybee, Cocke, Tennessee.
