James Marmont Bennett
August 8, 1931 - April 25, 2011

James M. Bennett was born August 8, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Albert Lee and Nan Bennett. He graduated from St. Frances High School in La Canada, California and attended U.S.C. He was in the US Air force for 4 years stationed at Kirkland Air force base in Colorado. He spent one of those years on active duty in Korea. Upon returning to the US, Jim attended and then graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture. After working in the private sector, Jim began his career with the US Forest Service in Placerville, CA in 1961. His most gratifying achievement was in designing the amphi-theater at Pope Beach, South Lake Tahoe. After three years, he then joined the Bureau of Indian Affairs, living in both Colorado and New Mexico. Ten years later, the family moved to Buffalo, New York while Jim worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as an Economic and Environmental Planner. Jim developed and prepared Environmental Impact Studies involving both the US and Canadian Governments. By 1994 Jim retired and moved to Reno, NV, which was closer to his children, daughter Kathleen McKenna, & grandson Connor McKenna, and son Jon M. Bennett, both of the Sacramento area. Also, survived by his wife Melinda, after 49 years of marriage. Jim was a 41 year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. Many thanks to the St. Mary's Hospice for their amazing care and service. A favorite lifelong saying of Jim's was, "always remember the good times". His family will well remember this quote. A private Memorial to follow.
