Harvey M. Adams (called Tip), was born September 20, 1840 on the farm in Parke county, now owned by his brother, William D. Adams, died Oct. 11, 1902. Aged 62 years and 21 days. He was the fifth child of William C. and Mary Adams. He was married to America I. Seybold, Jan. 21st 1864. To them were born six children, three sons, John Charles, Arthur and three daughters, Cora, Eva and Ella, the three sons having gone on before. He leaves to mourn his loss the wife of his youth, three daughters and three grandchildren, three brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
He was converted to the faith of Christ while young and in January 1872 united with the Frinedly Grove Baptist church, and lived a life of faith. He has been an invalid for almost nine years with locomotor ataxia and bore his affiction with Christian fortitude and resignation and was conscious that the end of this life was near saying time and again that he was tired of this life and wanted to go home. He said yes he was ready and wanted to fall asleep in Jesus. On Sunday night before he was taken with his last sickness in his sleep he work his wife up singing, "We'll Wait till Jesus Comes," and in the morning when she spoke to him about the singing he said he knew he sang that song in his sleep because he woke himself up singing.
He now at rest with Jesus has gone.
He has left us here to mourn,
Yet we should think of his blessedness
He now walks the shores of god
Where he will welcome every one.
He rests in mansions brighter far than earth.
Where time shall have no end.
Where death can never come again
No parting knell can ring.
Funeral services at Friendly Grove church, Oct. 13th conducted by Rev. Silas Adams after which the remains were laid to rest in the Adams cemetery near the church by the order of Masons of which he had been a member for almost thirty-seven years.
The family extend their thanks to their many friends and neighbors for their kindness during his sickness and death.
